Sexy dance recording artist Adam Barta has taken the GenQ 20 questions test. Here's what he had to say.

adam barta

Adam Barta has been working hard at what he does for a while, and it’s paying off. If you haven’t heard of this Bronx born, Billboard-breakout, mainstream dance recording artist yet, you will. With beginnings in off-Broadway musical theatre, he became lead singer in a boyband, after which time his solo music career took off in 2005 with his hit single Dirty Girls.

Now he is up for his biggest challenge, taking the GenQ 20 Questions!

1. What's your star sign?
Virgo - I'm a perfectionist when it comes to everything, especially my career!

I've always wanted to be a singer, ever since I can remember

2. What human traits do you find offensive?
Probably apathy and laziness...we all have them to a certain degree, but I think it's really respectable for people to take initiative to make a positive change in their own life and in the lives of those around them, especially with so much much strife in the world. I really respect people who can stand up for what they can believe in, and make a difference, be it with volunteer work or whatnot. With my music I hope to bring a degree of comfort to those who can use it as a tool to  escape their lives and live through the lyrics and beat.

3. Do you have any pets
I have one beta fish, his name is Mister Gills

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I've always wanted to be a singer, ever since I can remember! I used to perform in my school pageants and then got involved with the two boybands which were experiences that gave me the tools to evolve as an artist and move forward with my dream. I will always love to perform and sing, so I think no matter where I am in life, or wind up, I will be doing those things.

5. What's your favorite food?
I love italian food...and ironically I just found out in a magazine that my favorite restaurant was named the worst place to go for calories and fatty foods, unfortunately! But they serve a plate of macaroni with garlic and chicken.. I love garlic... great to eat, but not so great for my breath, so I have to be careful!

6. What's your favorite color?
Blue. Even on the cover of the single for "I Wanna Hold You", I have a gray armani shirt with a blue logo across it.. I like for there to be blue in all my photos, because its a nice color and compliments me well, i think.. in terms of personality.

7. In your spare time, how would you describe your dress sense?
I like casual, but stylish. Armani Exchange is a great place to shop, as is Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister and Co, which has sort of sport clothes. Of course there are times when I just want to lounge around in my jogging pants and a t shirt!

8. What was your most memorable holiday?
Probably when I was a little kid... I remember being around my mom and dad and waking up on Christmas morning with the whole living room filled with Christmas presents. It means alot since I lost my dad, to think back on that time in my life. And even though we didnt have tons of money, both my parents really made sure I got all that I could ever want. Its great to have those memories of a happy family, because not everyone has that, and Im very grateful.

9. Who inspires you?
Well my mom does first and foremost. She had been sick for a while and pulled through it and showed me what it was like to have courage to go for what you want and not take any prisoners. Being in the music industry I have had many setbacks, but it was looking to my mom who gave me love and support to keep going and get where I am today. Last year I suffered some challenges in my personal life, but it was when I was at my worst that all the amazing things started to happen - making #1 on MTV's LOGO network for a month, signing with EsNtion (Warner Music Group) Records, and hitting the the dance charts. I'm also inspired by my manager Shaun, who has been a pitbull in making sure that I keep moving foward and don't get lazy.
Musically, I'm inspired by those who are around me. My next single, "Standing in the Rain", was produced and written by Russ Harris, who's already had some great commercial success of his own. Working with someone that talented has helped me up my own game, and in the end, I think the result of what is about to come will top the charts everywhere!

10. What's the first thing you notice about boys/girls?
With girls, probably their eyes and hair. With guys, I notice if they are taller than me or not. Sometimes I feel short!

11. What's your favourite drink?
Coke with grenadine (cherry coke)

12. Scary movies or happy endings?
Both I think - sometimes you have to get through the scary movie to have the happy ending. But I do like scary movies.. good excuse to grab someone tight and hold on.

13. A night in on the couch or an all night bender?
Depends on my mood. Both have their pluses.. but after a hard week of performing or recording, probably a night on the couch!

14. Do you ever get stage fright?
Sometimes.. Ive had mishaps with mic's not working, sound systems being off.. but you just have to go on with the show. The worst part is waiting, for me. You have all this nervous energy but you just want to get out there and perform!

15. Do you have a personal mantra?
Make a difference, in whatever you do.

16. If you could be any superhero who would it be and why?
I would have to be Angel from the world of Buffy, because he's powerful, tall, dark, and brooding, and nobody gets in his way.

17. Use three words to describe yourself.
Driven, compassionate, simple

18. Which TV show can't you do without?
Buffy! I live for it. My first single, Dirty Girls, was named after an episode form the last season

19. Boxers or briefs?
Briefs - I need some security!

20. If you could take only three things to a deserted island what would they be?
I was recently asked this question for another interview and I have to give the same answer - it would be a huge house, an unlimited supply of food, and a private jet so I could see my friend anytime I wanted! :)
