Not many artists these days can put their hand up and lay claim to having been in the charts for even close to 30 years. One artist who can admit this is Canada's Bryan Adams. Having released his first album in 1980, Bryan has just released his 11th album, simply titled 11.
This album is similar in sound to the last few albums Bryan has released, such as Room Service and On A Day Like Today, though there are a few tracks that take listeners back to his older, rockier style of music, such as the first single, I Thought I'd Seen Everything, and the bonus track, The Way Of The World.
Of course, no BA album would be complete without ballads. The track, Broken Wings, is all about a love that heals the mind of a previously broken-hearted man when he meets someone who "taught me how to fly on broken wings". The finger-picked simplicity of Walk On By, combined with BA's raspy vocals and heartfelt lyrics, also make for a very moving song.
Unlike many solo artists these days, Bryan has kept mostly the same line-up from the start, with Mickey Curry (drums)and Keith Scott (guitar) having been on his albums and tours since the early 80's, and the strength of these relationships show in the music on this album.
11 is out now through Universal Music, and will be a much loved addition to any Bryan Adams fan's collection.
