The Rogue Traders release the second single off their latest album, I Never Liked You.
After making the Top 10 for the first time late in 2007 for the first time since Watching You, the Rogue Traders are launching 2008 with the second single to be released from their Top 5 album Better In The Dark entitled I Never Like You.
Led by entertainment entrepreneur Natalie Bassingthwaithe, I Never Liked You features another dimension of the evolution of the Traders sound they had hoped to bring forward in the group’s third album. The track is guaranteed to gain significant airplay from radio stations with its ‘electro-pop’ sound, but whether it will be able to have such an impact on the charts does not have the same reassurance.
The video for the track also features its fair share of animation including battle sequences and the occasional glimpse of Bassingthwaithe’s appearance being similar to that of Jessica Rabbit. It almost appears to be a bit too much for three and a half minutes, but somehow it works to a degree.
All in all, a solid attempt from the Rogues to add a new flavour to their familiar sound. Expect a reasonably high debut, but I’d put money on this not being the first number one for the group.
