Vanessa Amorosi learned a long time ago what it really means to be perfect. Now she’s written a song about it.

Vanessa has been rewarded for her hard work, and had taken the first step in a career that, after a lot more hard work – would eventually lead to huge hit singles (‘Absolutely Everybody’, ‘Shine’) and the album ‘The Power’. At 18 years of age Vanessa became the first Australian female to reach #1 on the national ARIA chart with her debut album.

“My mum is a massive part of why I strive to have a better vocal, have a better show, and be a better performer. I used to sing to her, and she would say ‘make me feel’. The more perfect I sang a song she would say. ‘Do something for me. Entertain me or I’m going to ignore you.’
“She taught me there’s no perfect way. The most imperfect things - the magic of the song - are the things you want to listen to.”

That thought has inspired Vanessa’s powerful rock/pop smash new single, PERFECT.

 “That’s what perfect means to me. Love comes in different shapes and forms, and I don’t expect a person to be too perfect, because I’m far from it. The imperfections are what I end up loving. I like things that are real. Every night I do this same walk to clear my head. I like the fact that the trees are bent over this dirt road. I like the fact that there are pot-holes that I fall in. And I think to myself, there is no other place I’d like to be. This place right here is perfect.”

In between albums Vanessa has buried herself in recording studios, written songs for others, and decided what she missed most was to be on stage again.
