“Against continually changing market influences and challenges we have seen our label grow year on year, the partnering with EMI being integral to that growth” says Ministry of Sound’s Managing Director Tim McGee.
“It is important that as a Company we seek out new beginnings and continue the growth and I am confident that the new partnering with Universal will accomplish this. We look forward to our new home at Universal but it will be difficult leaving behind the friendships at EMI which have been built over the past 8 years.” continues Mr McGee.
Whilst the deal with Universal is effective from 1st January 2008, Ministry will physically relocate to Universal at the end of March 2008.
All new releases after 1st January 2008 will be distributed exclusively by Universal with certain back catalogue titles being re-cleared and available via Universal in due course.
Releases under the pre–existing EMI deal will continue to be sold by EMI under exclusive sell off rights which end 28th March 2008.
All of Ministry’s branded compilation business, “Hed Kandi”, “Housexy”,” and Ministry’s own brand “Ministry of Sound”, along with the compilation partnerships of “Fuzzy”, “Future Music” and “Blutonium also move across to Universal Music Australia effective 1st January 2008.
Hussle and etcetc (Ministry’s newest non dance genre local A&R label established in 2007) will also move across to Universal and will be a primary focus under the new deal.
A big supporter of both Universal Music Australia and MOS Australia, GenQ wishes both parties all the best in their new venture together.
