Reports are emerging in the US of the marriage between Beyonce and Jay-Z
The rumours are flying over whether or not Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles married over the weekend in New York, following reports from American media.
People magazine quoted an unidentified friend as saying, "It happened earlier this evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair - close friends and family."
Representatives for the couple were unavailable to confirm the report, which added that the ceremony was followed by a party at the rapper's TriBeCa apartment.
Us Weekly magazine reported the bride wore a veil and a white dress with a low V-neck and thick straps. Her hair was in a half ponytail with ringlet curls, decorated with a white flower.
"It was amazing - very special, very private, very intimate," a source told Us Weekly. "Everyone had so much fun. It ended up being a wild party. DJ Cassidy was spinning and people partied until 4.30am."
Guests included Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles, her father and manager Mathew, her sister Solange, Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and friend Gwyneth Paltrow.
People touched off the celebrity wedding watch this week when it reported the couple, who have been dating for several years, had taken out a wedding license in Scarsdale Village, New York, valid for 60 days.
Perez Hilton fanned the flames by reporting the time, and later the location (posting the address of Jay-Z's apartment) of the wedding.
Beyonce and Jay-Z have been romantically linked since September 2002, performing together in music videos for two of her hit singles, Crazy in Love and Déjà vu.
