An amazing week for UK sensation Duffy as she joined an elite band of female superstars, that includes Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand, who have all held the UK number 1 position on the single and album charts simultaneously, something only 9 solo female artists have ever done in history.

More than a staggering 183,000 copies of the album were sold over the counter last week, easily the highest first week sales of the year and six times as many as the record at 2. In fact, Duffy sold just 3,000 less than the rest of the top 10 albums put together.

What started the week as an amazing 260,000 units initial ship, finished up at 425,000, surging past Platinum and onto nearly half a million units – in just one week!

The single ‘Mercy’ has its fourth week as number 1 on both the single sales chart and airplay chart. Total sales so far on the single are well over 215,000 - the third highest selling single of the year to date. ‘Mercy’ moved more than a further 53,000 units last week, almost double the number 2 single.

On the airplay chart, for a fourth week in a row, Duffy not only tops the chart, but increases in audience. A total of 2254 plays (up 201) increases the audience to 91.01 million, the biggest airplay audience anyone has seen for a few years.
