Lead singer of band Faker Nathan Hudson told the Sunday Magazine he is gay and that he hopes his admission will make young gay teens feel comfortable with their sexuality.
“My association with being gay was that it was bad and dark and not good for you. I had trouble finding people to look up to,” he said.
“I’m happy to talk about being gay for that kid in the suburbs who’s 15 and scared.”
It’s refreshing to hear someone speak so openly and candidly, especially from the macho world of alternative rock. I hope Nathan’s right and his words can inspire young people struggling with their own sexuality. He joins Darren Hayes, Missy Higgins and Anthony Callea who are proud of who they are and not letting it affect their music.

Good on you mate.
I commend Nathan for speaking out. Too many young people are ashamed of who they are. If you don't love yourself, you'll never find someone to love either.
I was never prouder of Darren Hayes as when he told the world that he was happy and in love.
Let's keep letting young people know that they are truly "Lovable"!
Important and smart move, Nathan. Should help young gay guys realize that being gay is just a part of the sum of who they are. E.G.- you're known primariily for your talent, not your preferences. And your talent is enormous.

This was a very brave thing for him to do, gay people in our society should be treated as equals not as another social group good on ya mate.
