Does anyone feel like we've been here before? Recently added to a long list of music acts to cancel their announced New Zealand tour dates is heavy metal heavyweights Judas Priest, who were due to play an Auckland show on Sunday night.
Fronted by Rob Halford, Judas Priest is a British metal act that formed in the 1970s and along with fellow metallers Cavalera Conspiracy, were due to play Auckland's Vector Arena on Sunday night.
In a press release, promoters Dainty Consolidated Entertainment said the cancellation was due to "logistic and freight issues".
"(We) apologise to all the fans who have purchased tickets for any inconvenience caused."
But the Cavalera Conspiracy, fronted by former Sepultra singer Max Cavalera, claimed on its website it had been banned from performing in New Zealand and Australia because it was "too inflammatory".
"Cavalera Conspiracy has been deemed an 'inappropriate' band to perform with Judas Priest on their Priest Feast 2008 tour dates in Australia and New Zealand."
"So, with that said, this post is an apology to the fans in the Australia and New Zealand for the cancellations."
But the Judas Priest cancellation is only the latest in a long list of concerts to be cancelled in the last year, including high profile performers such as Mary J Blige, Timbaland, Christina Aguilera and NaS.
And yesterday, despite a large amount of recent advertising, former boy band member Brian McFadden postponed his October shows.
Refunds for Judas Priest are available from point of purchase.
