California singer/songwriter Katy Perry's single "I Kissed a Girl" jumped one place to claim the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart Thursday, as Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" plummeted to No. 6.

The former Christian-pop singer's bi-curious tune also becomes the 1,000th No. 1 of the rock era, which began with Bill Haley and His Comets' "Rock Around the Clock" in 1955.

Perry's new album, "One of the Boys," debuted at No. 9 on the U.S. album chart Wednesday.

Madonna & Guy Ritchie Marriage on the Rocks?
Reports have surfaced that predict Madonna and Guy Ritchie's marriage is close to collapse, as the couple sleep in separate rooms, and friends fear that the two are "like ships passing in the night." The pop queen and her director hubby had a what would have been a romantic three-day break together in Milan, Italy, but slept in separate rooms.

While they were there Guy, 39, spent most of his time working on a new commercial with Hollywood star George Clooney. And Madge, 49, visited fashion designers to arrange costumes for her forthcoming tour.

"They have this attitude like 'we're not really a couple but we're friends and we love each other and raise our kids. But the truth is they p*** each other off, don't agree on anything, don't see each other or live 'together' as they did. They are like ships passing in the night," a source revealed.

A Senate inquiry into the sexualisation of children by the media yesterday called for the review of music video classifications and an introduction of separate free-to-air kids television channels. Warning labels may also be placed on teen magazines that contain sexually explicit content.

Kylie back with the Ex, again??
A series of photos recently released showing Kylie Minogue and her ex-boyfriend Oliver Martinez together have re-sparked talk the two are an item once more. There was no shortage of affectionate hugs and loving looks between them at lunch in Paris.
The couple parted ways in February last year after a four year relationship, amid rumours the French actor had been unfaithful. The princess of pop has denied they're an item again, stating they're just friends who share a 'special bond'.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte goes solo
Natalie Bassingthwaighte, the ex-Neigbours star most recently known as an electro-punk princess and singer for the band The Rogue Traders has quit her group to focus on a solo career. Co-founder James Ash confirmed the split yesterday with News Limited.
"As Nat's career choices are taking her in new and exciting directions, she won't be able to be a part of the Rogue Traders," he confirmed.

"We part company as best friends, with a deep love and respect for each other and what we have achieved over the last three and a half years."
Drummer Cameron McGlinchey, who is dating Bassingthwaighte, has also left the group.
The band will continue without the famous front girl, and only time will tell if they can maintain their success.

Ruby Rose wins role with Gay Stance
MTV host Ruby Rose has landed her first major big-screen role in Aussie comedy Suite for Fleur. And it's all due to her out and proud lesbian stance.

"She got the role because of her looks and her brave stance on her sexuality," filmmaker Ron Brown told Confidential.

Rose, who was recently seen pashing The Veronicas' Jess Origliasso, plays a sexy seductress who tempts the main character Fleur and her boyfriend at a bar.
Filming on the movie, which also features Cameron Daddo, Angry Anderson and Luke Jacobz, will commence on September 15.
