Rihanna Creates Australian Chart History
Rihanna Creates Australian Chart History
Published Feb 21, 2008
Rihanna has become the first artist in Australia to achieve a number one single, through digital sales alone, with her pumping track “Don’t Stop The Music”. This is the second #1 single, after “Umbrella”, and the fourth chart single from her hit filled album Good Girl Gone Bad which has sold over 100,000 units in Australia.
Rihanna enjoyed a tidal wave of industry acclaim in 2006 with her second album A Girl Like Me, and its back-to-back hits, “S.O.S.” and “Unfaithful.” With “Don’t Stop The Music” reaching #1 on the Motorola Aria Singles Chart, it became the third #1 single, for the Grammy nominee, from nine Australian releases - placing her equal fourth with Shakira and Pink as the female with the most #1 singles this decade!
