2007 was Timbaland’s most successful year internationally by far, and with credit being given where it is due, the American rapper has scored himself the number one single and album in Australia heading into 2008.
Apologize is one of the year’s most successful hits for a male, with its six week run at the top of the singles chart the longest for a male performer this year, ousting Sean Kingston who spent five weeks at number one with Beautiful Girls.
Shock Value, Timbaland’s second studio album, has also ended the Eagles six week legacy at the top of the albums chart, and is spending its first week at the top this week.
In other non-Timbaland news (yes, there actually is some!), some of the highest selling singles and albums of the year have had sales spikes during the final days of the Christmas shopping season. The Veronicas, Foo Fighters, Fergie, Sneaky Sound System and Silverchair have all shown impressive increases on the singles chart with their biggest hits of the year, while Alicia Keys, Sneaky Sound System and Britney Spears showed the best chart position increases on the albums chart.
