It seams summer has once again come late with the Australian release of Hed Kandi- Beach House 2008. Get your sun-drenched groove on!

As ever, it’s deeply soulful house of the mid-tempo kind with shimmering vocals and the occasional Latin twist. All elements combine to create that unique feel good, frown-free Beach House vibe, perfect for long, hot summer days at the beach, or chillin’ out on the porch with mates and a good drink.

The first disc kicks off with Recloose feat. Hollie Smith, Still Beyond Me. I first came across Hollie last year when she came onto the Australian mainstream music scene, and fell in love with her instantly. Expect to see a lot more of her on GenQ and in general! Still Beyond Me is the perfect way to begin this compilation, from the beat intro to Hollie’s magnificent voice, which is somewhat like Joss Stone, extremely soulful and funky.

That really sets the tone for Disc one, high quality, fresh, funky and vibrant soulful house. Featuring the likes of Random Soul and Beach House perennial Miguel Migs with a track called Get Down, from his latest album Those Things, out on the Salted Music label. Many of the tracks on the compilation are different to those of its International brother, however they sounds don’t let you down. The beat takes flight part way through in the way of As Darkness Falls fromVernon & Dacosta feat. Apple Rochez, and Random Soul’s It Feels Alright. The journey then continues through a bit of electro house (of which Hed Kandi has focussed on developing recently) and out the other side of soulful and funky jazz house.

The second disc commences with another Random Soul track, a collaboration with Vincent Kwok, Music is My Life and we continue in a more up vibe with a Joshua Heath remix of I’m with Ya by Troydon, a fave on any dancefloor. Chuck Love delivers some thicker bass and brass latina groove with his Bailando (translated as ‘Dancing’ in Spanish, and rightly so!) and Mr Migs features again but this time, his remixed version of Demanda by Rasmus Faber. More female dominated tones feature in the form of In My Life, a track by Chris N & Mikkel Wendelboe. DJ Superstar Kaskade offers Never Ending off his album, Love Mysterious and in fitting fashion, Celebration of Music (Justin Michael & Secret Soul feat. Gina Rene) takes us out on Disc 2, and upbeat dance floor killer that will have you on your feet at the end of the night.

Another Hed Kandi Beach House is ready for play and there is still some sunlight hanging around so grab your bikinis and trunks and enjoy dip in the sea whilst you listen to the sundrenched summer tones of Hed Kandi Beach House 2008.
