Last Friday night @ Palace Theatre (Old Metro), the Israeli psy-trance duo, Infected Mushroom (IM), were in town playing their live set and showing the Melbourne dance culture that psy-trance and rock n roll can be mixed together and the results can be explosive. GenerationQ was on the scene, to partake in the madness.

If you know anything about psy-trance, you know who Infected Mushroom is and what kind of impact they have had on the genre. The Israeli natives attained significant popularity from the late 1990s to present time and have helped redefine what "trance" means to a lot of people through their constant evolving style and killer lyrics, this girl included.

The room had an insane amount of energy, people jumping up and down as the music possessed and gripped everyone hard!

They went on stage at around 2:00 AM, and what an entrance! The main room was packed with hundreds of people, highlighting the serious fan base they have gained in Melbourne!! They tore up the room with a live trance morphed rock show. The full live act began showcasing "Deeply Disturbed" and “Artillery” from their new album Vicious Delicious and ripped it up. With the duo on the keys and on the microphone, Infected Mushroom entered and left of the house in blazing fashion! The room had an insane amount of energy, people jumping up and down as the music possessed and gripped everyone hard!

The new album Vicious Delicious is just amazing… I can’t seem to put it down. It melds IM’s old school trance with more hip-hop and instrumental takes. In today’s music, evolution is the key and I think IM did it very very well with the new style of album that is Vicious Delicious. The blend of trance and cool guitar riffs made this album an instant hit with me. The tracks Heavyweight and Vicious Delicious are particular favourites but the Latin inspired Becoming Insane also has a place close to my heart. I adore it and can’t stop listening to it… IT’S INFECTIOUS.

Overall, this album and show was one of the best, if not THE best that have come out of the Israeli artists. And I really do mean the word “artist” as being someone who takes what is already known and gives it their own unique twist, completely transcending what the audience is accustomed to.

This album is a MUST if you’re into music at all, regardless of preferences.
