Last night Euro Trash Bar became blonde as the lesbians of Melbourne filled the three floors and courtyard for the Midsumma Blonde on The Rocks event. Since it’s inception in the Melbourne Lesbian community a couple of short years ago, Blonde on the Rocks has provided a stylish, classy and variety filled night for lesbians Melbourne wide. Eurotrash, in Corrs Lane, City is the perfect venue, providing a fantastic club experience, no matter what your tastes in night time entertainment.

Upon entry you are greeted by air-hostess like ‘blondes’ in the window, who stamp your hand and hand you a free champagne ticket, which can be redeemed once inside. Other ‘blondes’ circulate throughout the club, but mainly on the ground floor.

The bottom floor is appropriately lit, with comfortable couch space, lounge area, an LCD widescreen on the wall playing eye-catching female interest material and courtyard, added to necessities such as the bar, cloakroom, and toilets. The courtyard is a great place to get away for a more intimate chat, and there are outside stairs leading to the 1^st floor to avoid the ground level ‘crush’. The music played on the ground level is more commercial so if you aren’t into hard core dance and techno, but still want to boogie, this is the level for you.

The 1^st Floor plays more underground house and dance/techno, with a massive projector playing against the back wall, with a heightened ‘stage’ platform below it. Shows occur on stage and can be quite entertaining, given the type of performance. There is also seating available, albeit less comfortable, toilets and a bar.

The 2^nd floor is more of an unconventional groove, as more mellow 60s style music can be heard at a lower noise level. In addition, this floor is not as open plan as the others, rather you can find more secluded areas and comfortable seating to spend quality time, or if you are feeling a litte horny, why don’t you make yourself comfortable on the makeshift bed around the corner.

In the spirit of the 1st Asia Pacific Out Games, Blonde was the official women’s party, and many of the athletes involved in the festivities had conglomerated there after a meal and hence had stuck around to enjoy the fun, as posters advertising the Outgames hung from the ceiling all around.
