New rock album from Warner is Platinum

Platinum Rock

During your sometimes long (if you’re lucky), draining life there comes along something that you realise you’ve been waiting for without even knowing that you were waiting at all. It could be the man of your dreams, a winning scratchy card or even the best orgasm of your life. However it could be something as simple and small as a CD. A totally awesome CD filled with classic rock tracks that bring back your heyday of when you were once king of high school or BMOC (Big Man On Campus). The tracks that helped you out through exams and break ups and the tracks that sent shivers down your spine (not that you’d admit it) when you heard it live. This is that CD.

Platinum Rock delivers what it promises. With the one hit wonders from Semisonic and Weezer mixed in with the more commercially popular bands like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Blink 182, you can’t go wrong. A little bite from every plate makes for a hearty meal. Alice in Chains brings some heavier metal whilst the slow new age rock of Tonic and Goo Goo Dolls balance out the 2 disc album that serves especially well for long drives.

What is most appreciative (at least from my 20 year old something perspective) is that Platinum Rock highlights the age of the late nineties to the very early naughties; a time when people thought that emo was simply a misspelling of Elmo. There’s not one emo note in this collection which is very refreshing to listen to. Yes, some songs may have had their overplayed time on the radio but one can’t help but jump up and down, shouting out long forgotten lyrics to songs like Semi-Charmed Life, She Hates Me or POD’s (what happened to those guys?) Alive.

Platinum Rock delivers what it promises

A fantastic compilation album, one that brings back memories you had (almost) buried deep in your past. Whether those memories were good or not, the songs they are associated with aren’t and, as if someone magically plucked out all your and your mates’ high school theme songs, they are all here to be enjoyed (or cried over) again and again.

I think you meant to say something like Lit instead of weezer when you were talking about One Hit Wonders.

Ever hear of a song called "Buddy Holly?"(U.S. Modern Rock Track #2) Or one called "Hash Pipe" (ditto)? Or their friends "Island in the Sun", "Beverly Hills" (Modern Rock #1) or "Perfect Situation" (#1 on Modern Rock, once again)?

If not, you may want to check them out.
