British India - Back from the UK and set for Australia

“...one of Aussie rock’s best releases this year, if not the best.”
– Vivienne Hill, Tsunami Magazine

“Thieves will see the band rise to all the right places.” – Ben Preece, Time Off

British India

2008 ARIA Awards nominees British India continue to live up to their reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working bands.

As soon as they finished the massive sell-out launch tour for their hit second album Thieves, British India quietly slipped away to the UK for a not so quiet overseas adventure. British India flew to England, got deported, came home to an ARIA nomination for Best Independent Release, returned to England in time to sell out their London showcase, impressed label execs with their pop prowess and ravaging live show – all this before daredevil guitarist Nic Wilson found time to impale his feet on an ancient castle gate pike, forcing the band to cancel their Glasgow show.

Now that British India have sowed those royal oats, these Oz indie mavericks return home to play headlining shows, and a heap of festival dates in Australia!

British India have announced shows at Sugarland Tavern in Bundaberg on Thursday 9 October, then O Dowd’s Rockhampton in Rockhampton on Friday 10 October, Waves Nightclub in Wollongong on Friday 24 October, The Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle on Sunday 26 October, the Peninsula Lounge in Moorooduc on Saturday 1 November, and two shows at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on November 3 & 4 (Melbourne Cup Eve & Day), the Mona Vale Hotel in Sydney on Friday 14 November, and the Woodport Inn in Erina on Saturday 15 November, as well as these festivals:

Sounds Of Spring Festival in Brisbane on Saturday 11 October, Sounds In The Ground in Sydney on Saturday 18 October, The Village Fair Festival in Bathurst, NSW on Saturday 25 October, Trackside Festival in Canberra on Saturday 22 November, the Vroom Festival in Perth on Sunday 23 November, Homebake (sold out) in Sydney on Saturday 6 December, and Falls Festival (sold out) in Lorne, VIC on Monday 29 December, with more shows to be announced soon. Phew!

Australia’s hardest working band indeed.

It’s an exciting time in British India’s growing empire.
Do not miss your chance to see one of Australia’s finest live rock acts on tour:
